Celebrate Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement

How can the Day of Atonement be the day that gives us the most hope, when it's the most solemn day of the year?

Biblically, it's a day of fasting, prayer, and confession — the one day the High Priest alone entered the Most Holy Place, carrying blood into God's presence on behalf of his and everyone else's sins.

But how does this work now, when atonement can no longer be made without a temple and the priestly duties that came with it? How does anyone actually get right with God? The Bible has something to say about this.

Yom Kippur therefore also points forward — to a day still coming, when the whole world will look up and recognize the eternal High Priest who made all things right with God (if you're curious, look up Zechariah 6:12-13; 12:10).
